So I hereby officially request a volunteer to keep track of issues and their state, and maintain a web page on them. Send me mail if you're interested in doing this. I won't insist on a strict discipline such as I proposed earlier, but I may poll the group now and then to see whether there is concensus on whether a particular problem really needs to be solved, so that we don't spend too much time dealing with trivialities. I also think it will help if people try to define the actual symptom that's causing trouble (i.e. what undesirable behavior is being observed) before stating a problem or issue or proposing a solution. It has been suggested that we tackle the most broken things first, before trying to smooth out the finer points. So I will be combing the archives and the list of issues we made in Stockholm, to see which of the problems mentioned seem to be causing the most harm, and will suggest those as topics for discussion. In contrast to my usual working group mode, and in adapting to the strange new role of Chair, I will be spending more time trying to gauge the group's opinion and less time trying to make suggestions and argue for them. I will also clearly mark messages as being "From the Chair" if they're meant to be official. Keith
