The above quote doesn't provide *any* information about whether registries are neccessary or not, or, should or should not be considered. Additional fields might be standardized by a registry, for instance, as well. In a way, RFC 822 consitutes a registry as well. In addition, this is about fundamental revisions of RFC822 and not just yet another X- header. I assume that you understand the policy behind RFCs and that they can and will be superseded if deemed appropriate. So why can't we just do it? Ok, I guess since it once was declared that the earth is everything but sphere, we still believe that today. Do you believe in the earth being a sphere, Dan? Even if it did say something about this subject, with the intention you implied, which it doesn't in the paragraph you have already shown to us, why can't RFC822 be wrong? And in many cases we have already determined that there are indeed insufficies in RFC822; that's why DRUMS exists, correct? Why can't we as DRUMS possibly come up with the decision that yes, indeed, there is a need for a registry. Maybe DRUMS won't, but that's not your decision alone. It's ours. -- Christian Kuhtz "Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious." - unknown
