Woodhouse" Sender: gjw@shell3.ba.best.com To: Pete Resnick cc: drums@cs.utk.edu Subject: Re: MUA practice summary meets Billy The Kid In-Reply-To: Message-ID: X-Url: http://www.wnetc.com/ MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII It's true that some MUAs allow the user to define a larger set of header fields that can be explicitly modified by the user and then provide a command to make these additional fields editable through the UI, butmany users are not likely to be aware of this capability or are likely to be uncertain about how to use it. It is also quite possible that users knowing how to do so may not wish to take the time to configuure their MUA and manually switch modes and edit "Reply-to" for each message distributed through a mailing list. Of course, my point is that just because it may be possible for users to edit this field, it is not realistic to expect them to do so. --- Gregory Woodhouse gjw@wnetc.com / http://www.wnetc.com/home.html God made machine language; all the rest is the work of man.
