Alvestrand" Note that: - the languishing son-of-1036 document by Henry Spencer recommends 1) NOT regarding News as 8-bit clean, except in an "area of agreement" (like, I suppose, relcom.* or no.*) 2) USING MIME headers to say what you are actually doing - gatewaying between Mail and News is a pain anyway, and should be done CAREFULLY - downgrading from 8bit to 7bit MIME is IMHO a requirement for practical use of 8-bit in SMTP.
