The problem can be solved, today, by putting the information in the address that gets subscribed to the list. I can, for example, subscribe jgm+drums@cmu.edu to this list and have the resulting messages filed differently. This will even work with lists that don't know to generate newfangled headers. > (3) Can be used for loop detection of circular list memberships Inserting and searching for a Recieved: header with appropriate "by" and "for" fields is sufficient to solve this problem.
