Part of the process of getting it fixed involves convincing the
sendmail people that it does not in fact break forward files and
aliases, since the backslashes in those occur outside double quotes.

This is being handled in a context appropriate to sendmail
development.  I don't want to go into it in too much detail on this
list.  Note that I did *not* claim that it will be fixed, nor did I
claim that a fix will be in any particular future version.
