Date: Wed, 20 Mar 1996 23:38:14 +1100 Message-Id: <4494.827325494@munnari.OZ.AU> From: Robert Elz Date: Tue, 19 Mar 1996 10:56:35 -0800 From: Dave Crocker Message-ID: In my opinion, we should madate UT with offset as the sole form to be generated, with only vestigal handling (parsing) of messages generated in other forms. I'm not exactly clear on what you're proposing there, if it is Date: Tue, 19 Mar 1996 10:56:35 -0800 (from your message), then that's fine, I agree. If you're proposing that the time should have been 18:56:35 (UT) along with (some kind of) indication what the offset from UT was, (perhaps just the -0800), then this looks like an incompatibe change. Date: In my opinion, the default should be the time the originator submitted the message for transmission, Yes, though I'd also accept implementations that default to the time the user began composing the message. unless for some reason the originator wants an earlier time (and their UA lets them specify it.) I'm not sure we need the "earlier" there, just "different". If the UA permits it (not required), and the user has some reason for bothering, let them say any time they want. kre
