"Invader Zim"

originally submitted by Will:

"Invader Zim" was a short-lived but immensely popular animated cartoon created by Jhonen Vasquez and released by the Nickelodeon channel. The channel abruptly cancelled the show as it reached the apex of its popularity, and now refuses to replay the show, publish a DVD version or allow other networks a chance at syndication.
The only place anyone (who hasn't seen the show) can see it is through illegal bootleg homebrew DVDs made from Tivo rips sold occasionally on eBay.

Stifled uses

Will:

All I wanted to do was see the show.
The only way this will ever happen under the current scenario is if I buy an illegal bootleg from a complete stranger over eBay.
This is a non-optimal solution.

Aaron Swartz:

Actually, Invader Zim is now out on DVD.

KirbyMeister (anonymous alias):

Lets see... Except for the DVDs, Zim's already abandonware! Once the DVDs fall out of print, this thing will be official abandonware! This is not good! I'd like to see the rights on derivative works relinquished on this thing too, as there were some scripts (available somewhere on the internet) that were never animated, I've got Flash up and if there werent restrictions on derivatives, I could animate them for the Zim community at large. However, with this work being shut out by Viacom (no hope of them animating these things) I cant do that!

Danielle:

They play Zim on Nicktoon, a Nickelodeon station on dish that shows some of their older shows like Kablaam, Tiny Toons, and Animaniacs...
