I had looked at alpine, searching is part of their network protocol, i
think there should be a clean seperation between  (finding
hosts/establishing the network) and finding content on the overall
network.

neurogrid looks to be in a similar situation to alpine. 

Im not sure about Semplesh.

I would rather work with an existing project, but i expect the network
layer to be a hard thing to change if its part of a bigger system...  any
changes would certainly have to prove themselves first, which would almost
make it a new project anyway.... apart from that i think it would be a
hard thing to design, i'd rather work with others to achieve that.
